Full Journal pdf2008-04-03 House Journal Page 2581 SB 216 The following was read the second time: CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 216(TRA) "An Act designating the Alaska Highway and portion of the Richardson Highway as the Purple Heart Trail." with the: Journal Page TRA REFERRAL WAIVED 2369 FIN RPT 10DP 2548 FN1: (DOT) 2548 2008-04-03 House Journal Page 2582 Representative Samuels moved and asked unanimous consent that CSSB 216(TRA) be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage. There being no objection, it was so ordered. CSSB 216(TRA) was read the third time. The following letter of intent for CSSB 216(TRA) was offered by Representatives Stoltze and Gruenberg: "It is the intent of the House of Representatives that Bridge No. 503, which crosses the Gerstle River on the Alaska Highway, and was designated as the Black Veterans Recognition Bridge by Chapter 42, SLA 93, be also concurrently recognized as a historical monument rdththth honoring the contributions of the 93, 94, 95, 97 Battalions and th 388 Regiment, commonly referred to as the "Black Engineer Corps." Because of the significant contributions to the construction of the 1,522 mile long Alaska Highway during World War II by these soldiers, it is our intent that the Black Veterans Recognition Bridge be recognized as a significant point on the Purple Heart Trail on the Alaska Highway." Representative Stoltze moved and asked unanimous consent that the House adopt the letter of intent. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The question being: "Shall CSSB 216(TRA) pass the House?"
